- Chateau Lalande is a small family owned estate in the village of Saint-Julien, owned by the dynamic Meffre brothers. Adjoining Chateau Gruad Larose, Chateau Talbot, and Chateau Lagrange, and facing Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou, it is one of the rare, small, non-classified estates in the St. Julien appellation that has not yet been snatched up by one of its renowned neighbors.
- This estate comprises 15.5 hectares of vineyards planted on gravel soils at a density of 8,000 vines/hectare. Average age of the vines is 30 years old
- After manual harvest and sorting, the grapes undergo a cold soak for 48 hours to extract color and aromas. The fermentation is done at 25 degrees celcius in traditional cement and stainless steel vats. Then the wine is aged in French oak barrels, one-third new. Only 6,000 cases produced annually. Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
- Tasting Notes: Bright, intense, ruby color. Elegant nose of crushed red balck berry fruit, spices and a hint of vanilla. Rich and round in the mouth with a touch of freshness. Soft well-integrated tannins and a long finish.
